Breaking News...
Tuesday, December 05, 2011 - The day after... Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who turned out for the show yesterday. It was our largest show ever with over 300 cars and families turning out on one of those perfect cool but sunny December days here in Florida. And as always, you came prepared by bringing enough toys to fill our 7 ton marine truck along with close to $500 in cash which will be used by the Marines to help those families in need. Pictures will be posted over the next day or two but for now, a video of the cruise down the brick streets of Old Town has been posted on You Tube which you can view by clicking here.
Once again, a special thanks to the VolksFamily Car Club of Kissimmee who put the show together this year. It takes many months of hard work and dedication to put on a show of this magnitude, and the club did a wonderful job. Thanks VolksFamily!
Well, as we now prepare for Christmas, our family would like to wish each and every one of you a Very Special and Blessed Christmas holiday. We hope to see each of you again at next years show!
Wednesday, November 23, 2011 - The VolksFamily Car Club held their regularly scheduled Tuesday night meeting to go over some of the last minute details for the show and let me tell you, I'm really starting to get excited. I believe this will be the best show yet!
Some of the items to be given away include but are not limited to:
There will also be plenty to eat and drink thanks to Krispy Kreme Donuts, Dunkin Donuts, The Garzor Insurance Agency, and Big Kahuna’s Burgers.
We will also have a clown walking around through-out the day who will be doing animal figures with balloons and face painting for the children as well as our super hero's from Costumers With a Cause and of course good Ole St. Nick himself.
We hope everyone has a great time this year and would like to encourage each of you to bring as many toys as possible. Remember, we are doing this for the children...
My family and I wish you and yours a very blessed Thanksgiving weekend and are looking forward to seeing everyone at the show.
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - Here's a head's up on where you should go once you get to the show. All cars should enter from the front, directly off from Hwy 192. Vendors should use the access roads and will be directed where to park in Block D. We will open the front gate at 11:00am sharp. Please be patient with us and simply use the road in front of Old Town to park while you wait. Registration should be quick so you should not have to wait long once the gate opens. Vendors can start entering at 10:30, see the attendant of Block D for access.
Tuesday, November 08, 2011 - Where has the time gone? I can't believe it's November already and we are less than a month away from the show. As most of you have probably seen by now, our flyers have been distributed and hopefully are in all the shops in your area. Old Town is gearing up as usual making sure there will be enough staff on hand to help us out, locking in the band, getting a handle on all the specials that their shops will be offering once again and of course making sure Santa's schedule is free on Sunday afternoon.
We have a number of new sponsors as I have mentioned in previous postings some of which are listed on our Sponsors page, however I still do not have a complete list to share with you. This will be coming any day now, I promise! Actually we have discussed having to go to the stage area multiple times throughout the day just so that we can give everything away. I know that's not why we do Jingle Bugs but it's still fun anyway. Of course if any of you want to promote your business, etc., and would like to donate something at the show, please bring it along.
Winners of The Best Decorated Car contest will be awarded trophies this year (1st, 2nd and 3rd place) versus having grand prize give-a-ways. We are doing this primarily to give more people an opportunity to win some of the bigger prizes such as the two, yes two weekend stays at our local resorts. We will be drawing numbers that correspond to your entry form throughout the day so it will be important that you be at the stage at the appropriate times.
Vendors are welcome to come and set-up in the show area but remember, you cannot sell any items that may conflict with the merchants of Old Town. This includes items that are screen printed such as shirts, hats, cups, etc., food, drink and well, you get the idea. Stick with VW parts, new or old and you will be just fine. We are only asking for $10 plus a new unwrapped toy for the Marines/children ($20 if you do not bring a toy).
And talking about toys, let me encourage everyone to bring as many toys as possible. Each of you know how tough of a year we have had once again and if you have been blessed this year to even have a regular job, why not share just a small amount with someone in need. Load up them there V-dubs and bring them on!
Oh, one last thing. If you haven't pre-registered yet by using the pre-registration form on our site, I hope you will do so soon. It makes our job easier in getting everyone in quicker so that you can have more time to enjoy the show.
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 - Was at the weekly Volksfamily Car Club meeting last night and thing are progressing nicely. I have to admit, if they can pull off half the things they are trying to achieve this year for the show, it's going to be the best show ever! They have already identified around 12 new sponsors, have come up with a great new look for our postcards and flyers, and have nailed down the donation of those 100 bicycles once again.
We will start this weekend to circulate the postcards at the Volkstoberfest this weekend in Melbourne and as soon as we can get more printed we will be mailing them out to some of our regular attendees for distribution in their home areas.
I forgot to tell everyone last time but the Costumers With a Cause group will be back with us this year with those wild costumes. They are really a great group of guys and gals and we look forward to having them.
It's a little early yet for much more detail at this time, but I wanted to suggest to everyone that they start thinking of how they are going to decorate their cars for the event (you won't be sorry) and to start checking back here often for updates.
Monday, August 15, 2011 - Boy how time flies when you're having fun! The time has come to start putting all the pieces together; getting our sponsors on-board, finalizing and printing our flyers for distribution around the state, working out the details with Old Town and more. The Volksfamily Car Club has been busy all summer trying to find new sponsors and places for toy collections to be done (remember they brought the 100 bicycles last year) and are right in the middle of this years planning process. So far most of our sponsors have agreed to take part once again this year and things are really looking up for a really great show.
We have already solidified our contract with the Seralago Resort and you can now go online to reserve your room(s) and get our private group rates which are once again the lowest you will find in the area. We would love to see more people come in on Saturday and spend some time with us. It's a great time for the theme parks or even a more relaxed night out at Old Town joining in with the 200-300 other 1973 and older classics that will be cruising the brick streets. And just think about it, you will be relaxed and ready to go on Sunday after you have slept in and had a nice casual breakfast...
That's about it for now. Check back often for breaking news as it happens...
Friday, May 20, 2011 - It's been a while but we are finally starting to put things together once again for Jingle Bugs Rock 2011! Old Town in Kissimmee has agreed to host us once again and the date has now been set for December 04, 2011, one week earlier than usual due to a conflict with their anniversary on the 10th and 11th. A special thanks to the VolksFamily Car Club in Kissimmee, FL who has stepped up to the plate this year to put the show together. We look forward to working with them and we know the show will be as successful as ever.
If anyone has any comments on last years show or suggestions on how we can make improvements, please send them our way. We would love to hear from you...
